The Therapeutic Range of Q-Switched Laser Device

Q-switched laser devices are called “the gold standard to treat pigmented lesions” in the field of beauty. Hence, we can say the Q-switched laser is an expert to remove pigment.

The working theory of Q-switched laser deviceto remove pigment lesions is called “light induced blast”, that is: the Q-switched laser device emits laser beams with intense power instantaneously, which will reach to the target pigment particles within several nanoseconds. Once absorb the intense power of the lasers, specific pigment particles will swell and break into tiny pieces suddenly. Some of the tiny pigmented particles will pop off from epidermis directly, while some others will be engulfed by the macrophage in our body. After being digested by the macrophage definitely, the rest tiny pigmented particles will be dispelled out through the lymphocinesia finally. Correspondingly, the color of pigment in our skin will fade away gradually until disappear from skin in the end.

Pigment lesions are different with each other in many aspects, such as: color, position, size, etc. Therefore, we should watch and analyze the pigment lesions carefully before the operation, and make a best plan to treat them according to the analysis result we have made.

The Q-switched lasercan emit laser with two different wavelengths: 1064nm and 532nm. The 1064nm laser penetrates so deeply that it can reach to the melanophore in dermis. Thus, when we want to treat the dermal pigmented lesions like Ota nevus and Mongolian spot, we should choose the 1064nm lasers. About colors, lasers in 1064nm are more effective on the removal of pigment in dark colors, such as: black, blue, and cyan. With a shorter wavelength, 532nm lasers are more suitable to remove the superficial pigments like sunspot, age pigment. On the aspect of color, lasers with a wavelength of 532nm are good at removing the pigments in red, brown and coffee, especially the red ones.
